User Profile
This guide covers managing your user profile and preferences in Events Manager.
Accessing Your Profile
- Click on your name or avatar in the header
- Select Profile from the dropdown menu
- Or navigate to Settings → Profile
- Name: Your display name (shown throughout the application)
- Email: Your email address (used for notifications)
- Job Title: Your professional title or position
- Bio: A brief description about yourself and your work
- Profile Photo: Upload a headshot or profile picture
Updating Your Profile
- Navigate to Settings → Profile
- Click Edit on any section you want to update
- Make your changes
- Click Save to apply changes
Language Preferences
Events Manager supports multiple languages. You can change your preferred language at any time.
Changing Your Language
From the Header:
- Click the Globe icon (🌐) in the header
- Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu
From Settings:
- Navigate to Settings
- Find the Language section
- Select your preferred language from the dropdown
Available Languages
Currently supported:
- English (en) - Full support
Additional languages coming soon:
- Spanish (es)
- French (fr)
- German (de)
- Japanese (ja)
- Chinese Simplified (zh-CN)
Language Preference Storage
Your language preference is:
- Saved to your profile - Persists across devices and sessions
- Stored in browser - Used if you’re not logged in
- Automatically detected - Uses your browser’s language setting on first visit
The application will remember your language choice and apply it automatically when you log in.
What Gets Translated
When you change languages, the following are translated:
- All user interface text (buttons, labels, menus)
- Form labels and placeholders
- Error and success messages
- Date and time formats
- Number and currency formats
- Navigation items
Theme Preferences
You can also customize the application theme:
- Navigate to Settings
- Find the Theme section
- Choose from:
- Light - Light color scheme
- Dark - Dark color scheme (default)
- System - Follows your operating system preference
Profile Photo
Uploading a Profile Photo
- Navigate to Settings → Profile
- Click Upload Photo or click on your current photo
- Select an image file (JPG, PNG, or GIF)
- Crop or adjust if needed
- Click Save
Photo Requirements
- File types: JPG, PNG, or GIF
- Maximum size: 10 MB
- Recommended dimensions: 400x400 pixels or larger
- Format: Square images work best
Your profile photo will be displayed:
- In the header (next to your name)
- On your profile page
- In attendee lists for events
- In user management pages (for admins)
Activity History
View your activity history to see:
- Events you’ve created or updated
- CFP submissions you’ve made
- Files you’ve uploaded
- Profile changes
Access your activity history from Settings → Profile → Activity.
Privacy and Security
- Your profile information is visible to other users in the system
- Your email address is used for notifications but can be kept private
- Profile photos are publicly visible
- Contact your administrator if you need to update sensitive information
Troubleshooting
Can’t Update Profile
- Make sure you’re logged in
- Check that you have permission to edit your profile
- Try refreshing the page
- Contact your administrator if issues persist
Language Not Changing
- Clear your browser cache
- Check that you’re logged in (preferences are saved to your profile)
- Try logging out and back in
- Check browser console for errors
Profile Photo Not Uploading
- Check file size (must be under 10 MB)
- Verify file type (JPG, PNG, or GIF only)
- Check your internet connection
- Try a different image file
